Operation Patriot East
Operation Patriot East was a Multi-National Operation taking place all along the East Coast of the United States. The New York Guard was involved, as was both the US Army and Air Force. The New York Guard operated a Search and Rescue Task force and conducted training that included participation of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC).Engineers from the 10th Brigade were certified by the United States Air Force in Emergency runway repair and constructed a fully functioning airfield.
The Second Phase for the New York Guard of Operation Patriot East was a Civil Emergency Drill in Lowville, NY. Elements of the New York Guard CERF team as well as other components of the New York Guard participated in a simulated chemical attack exercise. Civil authorities worked side by side with New York Guard troops in establishing perimeters, monitoring the spread of the poison plume and decontamination and transporting the injured.
